I wonder if Christian would let me borrow his batsuit for the weekend?
I wonder if Christian would let me borrow his batsuit for the weekend?

Another day, another Batman rumor or two. Let’s start off with some Tom Hardy news. It’s been rumored that Hardy might be playing Hugo Strange in The Dark Knight Rises, but the folks over at Ain’t It Cool are saying their source believes this isn’t just a rumor… it’s a fact.

“It seems that Chris & Jonathan Nolan and that David Goyer have been digging deep for the villain. In fact, Batman first went up against this guy in 1940 in the pages of Detective Comics. The word is, Tom Hardy is playing Dr. Hugo Strange, who has a bit of an obsession surrounding The Batman. Strange how common that seems to be in Gotham. In fact - it seems that Nolan and crew are exploiting that great PREY arc that was written by Doug Moench and illustrated by the great Paul Gulacy and Terry Austin - and ran from September of 1990 to February 1991.”

That sounds pretty interesting. Obviously, Nolan will be doing his own personal take on all of this even if it is true. I haven’t read the comics they're referring to, but maybe some of you who have can break it down for me. All I can say is that I’m sure Tom Hardy will hit a home run with whatever role he plays. And if this next rumor is true, we might be finding that out for certain a lot sooner than you think.

David Cohen, an editor from Variety, tweeted this:

“Chris Nolan told me his ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ script is due Monday or he’s in big trouble. Big trouble? What can they do? Fire him? ”

If the script really was handed in today, we can expect the Internet to be flooded with leaks in the next few weeks. I do think it’s amusing that even Chris Nolan gets hit with hard deadlines. I don’t think I’d have the panache to put any demands on him.

These rumors are flying all over the place if they are all true Dark Knight Rises might fall to Iron Man 2's too many characters and not enough focus.

But i have faith.

I wouldn't worry about that too much. The reason IM2 had that issue was they had to set up a shit ton of supporting characters for the Avengers movie.

@Elerigo: First off, were would be the correct linking verb to use in your sentence and you can't end a sentence with a preposition; with that being said nobody thought "Batman Begins" was a masterpiece and "Dark Knight" was more of a feat of broken down fan hood being resurrected than a masterpiece of American film.

@Shrevey3 (hand raise) I think Dark Knight is masterpiece. I would comment further but this conversation is already going down the wrong path.

@Elerigo: Batman Begins was ok but very pretentious. The Dark Knight though, oh man, you need to see this.

@AuthenticM:
*your usage of the word pretentious*

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

@Elerigo: I think people blew them out of proportion, to the point where they were saying Dark Knight was the best movie in 10 years, and while that may not be true both Begins and Dark Knight are very strong films, if not the best comic book movies.

@cexantus: Yeah it does. Go back and watch the movie and hit me back with an update.

There is a breakdown of Prey over on this Moviefone site that was posted late November.
The Week In Geek: From 'Prey' To 'The Dark Knight Rises'

I read it years ago since I was still collecting at that time.  I don't recall what it was about and I don't have my collection any more.

Hugo Strange...now there's a bland and boring character if I've ever seen one. I cannot ever see him being used as the main villain. Ever! He's not bankable. He's not...well...much of anything. Even to the comics. This is...concerning.
