Ditto. Nolan sure knows how to make things look so epic.

@FinalDasa: Oh sure. I'm not writing the movie off, to be sure, but I'm growing increasingly tired of Nolan trying to bootstrap the kind of social commentary onto Batman that makes him veer dangerously close to the kinds of fascist-Batdick that Miller wrote him as (see ending of Dark Knight with the cell phone sonar thing). Add to that Nolan's increasingly emotionless, vast urban epics, and the same problems that plagued the other movies (Bale's Batman remains utterly ridiculous, the movie's tone tries to pretend to be 'grim and gritty' but never commits to it) and it just seems like more of what I'm already growing very tired of in this version of the character.
Either way, it'll be nice to see Nolan end it and step aside. I hope whoever comes next has some new ideas for the Caped Crusader, maybe something with some levity to it.

Like Joel Schumacher?
@RockinKemosabe: I don't think it has to go that far, and I find that extremist argument problematic. The Schumacher movies have the drawback of also being incompetent. But Batman: The Movie? Jokey AND good. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm or Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker? Fun, dark movies that never buried entertainment under a pile of character baggage and poor decisions. See also Batman: Under the Red Hood. Or any of the various Batman animated shows of the past 20 years.
@litrock: What if they rebooted Batman, but instead of following the Bruce Wayne arc again, what if they did Batman Beyond?
Also, I loved your review for Pirates!, I probably won't get around to seeing it until it hits Blu-Ray, but I very much enjoyed your review. Well done.
@RockinKemosabe: I'd be interested in seeing an adaptation of Beyond, and if I remember correctly for a long time that was the most likely movie choice before Batman Begins showed up. The other one was a bizarre Year One adaptation where Bruce Wayne was poor and Alfred was a mechanic named Al who befriended him. That script would have also been ridiculous, probably not in a good way.
Ugh, I'm torn. Bane's voice sounds like it was definitely redone post-production but putting that aside, this doesn't give me the same chills up my spine that The Dark Knight trailers did. Maybe because Joker was such a perfect villain for the role. I think Bane would've been better suited for the second film but we can't go back. Maybe my expectations will be met. Also, I miss seeing the Chicago skyline, I was really disappointed Nolan went to Pittsburg to film this.
WAY better than the first theatrical trailer. It dosen't really explain exactly whats going on instead giving you the feel of the movie. I wonder how much money they used on fake snow to turn summer Pittsburgh into wintery Pittsburgh. Also if Batman gets taken out early on in the movie maybe that has the JGL character looking for him. I love me some Anne Hathaway but not quiet sure about her voice.

@litrock: I think the camp of the 60s and those Schumacher films really dampened any spirits towards a less serious Batman. I think this trilogy will give fans what they have been craving and maybe we can see the fun side of Batman again.
I completely agree. While I actually like parts of the Schumacher Batman flims, I'll admit that in all they're obhectively bad movies, so folks were definitely soured on camp. It certainly can be done extremely well in a modern context though. Pretty much any episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold proves it.
This trailer though, disappoints me again. Batman is by nature a pretty dull character. He stalks the shadows, doesn't talk much, and is grim most of the time. It's his villians that add intrigue to the world. Bruce was really the worst part of The Dark Knight Returns, completely (and rightly) overshadowed by the Joker. With "Bane" and "Catwoman", at least these versions of them from the trailers, they just seem kind of dull.
As I can readily say that Nolan has yet to make a bad film yet, though, I still have high hopes.
That Catwoman outfit looks like something that was picked out of Wal Mart on a Halloween sale. Bane looks... kind of goofy. Not really menacing. And Batman, lol. Yeah, I just... I don't understand the Batman craze. The Dark Knight was overly dramatic, lacked any punch or tension in the action department, and was just kind of a fucking drag. I don't find these past films to be as grim as they want to make it seem like. I want like, Watchmen-level of dark and grim. The Batman films are just fucking boring.
