Overall I defiantly liked it I would not call it bad nor did it really exceed the Dark Knight it was just so impersonal in scale which is what I think made TDK so great. Still Nolan has been getting SO MUCH better at directing action. I liked the Robin nod it made some of my more unflinching comic fans mad but well they're way to purist to enjoy anything not in the comics.

the ending seemed to happy. You can't end it on a bummer (batman being dead) but if they had cut on Alfed just looking happy off screen that would of been GREAT.

I was seeing it with a friend of mine who doesn't even read Batman comics and when that scene happened he audibly went "ugghh" and almost did a facepalm. It reminded me of sometimes why I like seeing certain movies alone because it always feels like they are saying "oh fuck this movie" (even if they don't mean it afterward). Kinda pulls me out of any immersion I had for that moment, which was frustrating because it was right in the middle of the momentum Nolan is able to build up in his movies.

Personally, I felt like there should have been more room to breathe in the first two acts, before Wayne makes it back to Gotham (btw how did he get there so fast?). There was either a lot of stuff cut for time, or story that they really wanted to fit in despite how quickly the audience would have to bounce from one place to the next.

I still thought the movie was awesome. The combination of Nolan, Pfister, and Zimmer makes for some intense movie climaxes. I hope they work together on another original project soon.

Just saw it and I thought that it was a well done movie, but the plot was a little bit predictable at parts.

1. I thought it was probably the best possible movie to follow up TDK. The hype was insane, and although it certainly didn't overcome TDK in quality, I thought it was a fitting end to the trilogy.

2. WHy is nobody talking about the best part of the movie?!? So Gordan and his merry men finally get caught, go to court, and who's the judge? Fucking Scarecrow! I was not expecting that IN THE LEAST. It was such a cool way to tie TDKR to the other films. And speaking of those connections, I thought pretty much all the callbacks to BB were awesome. Ra's al Ghul appearing to Wayne, and Gordon having the realization of Batman's true identity. So good.

First of all, I liked The Dark Knight Rises. But there is also a fair amount of things I didn't.

I don't get most of the plot, even though I understand it. The first two movies were believable, the intentions of the villains, understandable. But here I must say it's not.
In the plane, Bane is obviously putting blood in a bag so the CIA things the nuclear scientist is dead. But after a plane crash, I think the CIA would test bodies, and not blood splattered everywhere in the plane. But that really is just a detail.
My biggest problem is actually with the heart of the plot. Talia wants to destroy Gotham because her father wanted to. But her father had a reason, the city was a place plagued by mafia, corruption, crime, etc... But we understand at the beginning of TDKR that, thanks to the "Dent law", crime is almost gone from the city. So there is no reason anymore to destroy Gotham. Secondly, why are Bane and Talia telling the people of Gotham to rebel against society. Why are they waiting 5 months to make Gotham explode, so Bruce can see it turn into to flame ? But he was supposed to be locked in the prison forever, so why impose a limit of time. What is Talia still doing on Gotham after Bruce is gone, does she just want to die there, she had won, and had nothing to do in gotham anymore once Bruce was gone.
Also, Alfred leaves Batman just like that, I would have like to see Michael Caine more.

So, what do you think ?

(I'm french, so I hope I made myself understandable)

I was sort of thinking about the ending from Nolan's past films, which could be utterly pointless, but I did it anyway. People have compared the ending to Inception but I'd rather compare it to The Prestige. It's the whole magic trick idea. Batman's death is a magic trick. The pledge is Batman saying he'll take the bomb away, kissing Selina Kyle and telling Gordon his identity, proving he's a real human being not just a symbol. The turn is the bomb detonating and every assuming Batman sacrificed himself for the good of Gotham. And the prestige is Batman escaping death and showing up in Florence to show Alfred he made it. Nolan has to bring Batman back because it's part of the magic trick.

Then again, I'm reaching perhaps too far with this comparison.
