What I love about the Dark Knight series is how incredibly real it all feels in comparison to standard "super hero" movies. Within the first 20 seconds of this trailer, I'm immediately pulled into a world of all encompassing mayhem and almost forget entirely that Batman is in fact a DC Comics character. All I can say is I know that upon stepping into a theater for any Dark Knight film I'm guaranteed have some sort of extreme visceral reaction... I can't wait to see what that'll entail this time around.

This trailer not only puts to rest any doubts anyone had about this final Batman film, but it also crushes just about every other summer release this year, including The Avengers.

"doesn't fail to disappoints"

So it's disappointing?

Wow! Hard to think of a loftier generalization than that!! ;)

I wrote about this trailer in another thread already, but to paraphrase myself...This trailer disappoints me again.

Batman is by nature a pretty dull character. He stalks the shadows, doesn't talk much, and is grim most of the time. It's his villians that add intrigue and excitement to the world. Bruce was really the worst part of The Dark Knight Returns, completely (and rightly) overshadowed by the Joker. With "Bane" and "Catwoman", at least these versions of them from the trailers, they just seem kind of dull.

As I can readily say that Nolan has yet to make a bad film yet, though, I still have high hopes.

Yeah I can't tell if you are disappointed or not? Awesome trailer though, but even if I never heard the original besides the trailer I thought banes voice sounded cooler before. Even if you couldn't hear it.

@AuthenticM: Whoops that was me "being clever" or trying. Thanks for the correction

What are people's thoughts on Anne Hathaway? Personally not the biggest fan...

@gangly: I agree that Bane is dull, he seems like a Joker replacement and isn't really fitting into to the character's shoes. Bane is supposed to be this nearly out of control monster but if you just imagine him as the Joker in this it isn't much of a difference.

Catwoman though I like. She is straddling that line of giving up on people and society, seemingly encouraging Batman to leave his long time role as savior. She isn't all bad and she isn't all good, she is this in between that is good enough to attract Batman but bad enough to be a bad influence.

@Mackwahl: She seems fine in the trailer but overall I don't like her. Then again none of the female leads in Nolan's Batman movies have done very well on screen, so it isn't like she has to live up to any big standards.

If that's who she is in the movie, then it could be alright, but from the trailers I just see someone in a slightly goofy costume complaining that Bruce is too rich. The Selina I love from the comics wouldn't waste time complaining, she'd just rob him blind.

@FinalDasa:I think Nolan choose bland villains on purpose. If you imagine the Nolan Batman trilogy as a giant hero's journey, the third act would require Batman to be the star of the movie. Just take a look at this

Batman Begins: Bruce Becomes Batman after entering well (symbolic cave). The fact that the well also leads to an actual cave supports the idea.

The Dark Knight: Bruce's identity as the Batman and as identity as Bruce become one and the same. In the movie Bruce also finds the boon (all crime bosses+Joker defeated) and at the end of thhe movie he has to try to escape unscathed with the boon.

The Dark Knight Rises: I think this is where Bruce emerges from the symbolic cave. There is a part of the trailer where Bruce climbs out of the well (symbolic cave). There is also another trailer were Catwoman is mocking Bruce because he thought he could get away with (She may be talking about Harvey Dent).

Then again I might be reading too far into it, but I wouldn't put it past Nolan.

Doesn't look as good as I had hoped. Still I can hope that this will be good. I was almost planning on seeing this in theaters but this trailer has pretty convinced not to. I like the idea of having Catwoman in the film but her costume looks awful as does Bane's. He's a great villain and Tom Hardy seems right for the role but his costume is just not what I had hoped.

Awful fucking choice. I like the Wal Mart Halloween costume, though. TDK was boring and tenseless, and DKR will probably be just the same.

@AuthenticM: I was wondering that 2

Hathaway looks awesome in this as usual. The movie itself doesn't feel the same as the dark knight, can't get excited for this. I'm probably just burned out on comic movies. Avengers was cheesy and too long and this looks to be the same.

I have my Doubts now, I mean now i see Batman getting taking out, by bane, i know it's what i want, but... I feel it looks more like Transformers 2 now, and i don't know if i could handle Batman being out of the movie for half of it, Like Prime, in Revenge of the Fallen.

Still, meh. It's all personal choice. You got yours and I got mine. I'll see it on DVD. Peace.

@Acura_Max: I really like your hero's journey look at the trilogy. I think you may be on to something.
