Too many good one liners and an all star cast overshadow any short comings that you would expect from a sequel to The Expendables.
Now, I enjoyed 2010's The Expendables, as did most everyone else, but it was a flawed film, mostly noted by its extremely low budget at times. Expendables 2 improves on all of the short comings of the original film, while adding enough new characters in the already over stuffed action heroes of yesteryear extravaganza. Expendables 2 wastes no time getting right to the point with all the action. This is a much better paced film this time around, probably thanks to the fact that Stallone let someone else handle the directing duties. Jet Li is reduced to more of a cameo, swapped out for an Asian woman who also kicks ass. But perhaps the crowning achievement of Expendables 2 is the last 25 minutes, in which you will see Arnold, Bruce Willis, and Stallone kick ass together, which also includes this years greatest cameo moment, Chuck Norris. Hell, there's even a good take on one of the great Chuck Norris jokes. The one-liners are perfectly timed, the action and fights are top notch, and even the fake looking blood doesn't look as questionable this time around, thanks to a better budget. You'd be hard pressed to find a more fun film then Expendables 2 this summer. Sure, the plot is absolutely ludicrous, but did you really go to see this movie expecting a fantastic plot? Everyone turns in their A game in this sequel. In my opinion, bring on Expendables 3!
