Kill one man, and you are a murderer. Kill millions of men, and you are a conqueror. Kill them all, and you are a god.

Jean Rostand, Thoughts of a Biologist (1939)

I'm practically choking on the irony that perhaps the best non-video promo for The Expendables is turning out to be a blog infographic promoting term life insurance. Crazy but true: termlifeinsurance.org has mined the movie archives and tabulated the body counts for every member of Stallone's pedigreed team of badasses (sans Schwarzenegger, for no apparent reason) and displayed them in one place with a breakdown of how many from each film. This is action film nerdery on a commendable scale, folks.

The message is pretty simple: if you go up against these god amongst men, best of luck to you and I certainly hope you paid the bill on your life insurance last month. Pooled, these nine men have killed an astonishing 1,593 human beings in their movie careers. Other than that figure I won't spoil the breakdown--which I've posted after the break--and the dean of death wasn't who I was expecting.

If any math savants out there want to break down these figures even more by, say, determining the average kill count per movie for each actor, or any other interesting twist on the numbers, the first person to post that in their respective 'Trivia' sections will get an extra 50 wiki points per entry.

@Megasoum:
Execpt that they had to watch In the Name of the King for Jason Statham.

After looking over the all-encompassing body count list it got me thinking about who holds the record for most kills by a single person in any film.  On the list Stallone has the most in Rambo IV with 81, but I kind of wonder if there is some random movie with a higher body count then that.

@nick_verissimo:  In Kill Bill Volume 1, Uma Thurman takes out around about 90-100 people, if not more.

Statham is kind of up there for a dude who started late in the game.

@CandleJakk:
There were only 67ish Crazy 88s (As Bill tells Bud in the second volume) and I can only think of 3 more after that.

Who did Bruce Willis kill in Armageddon? Don't tell me they counted himself.

I think some of those numbers could be a little off, as it seems they are only counting deaths that are visibly seen on-screen.  Either that, or Rambo IV had far less deaths in it than I remember it having.

Pretty cool (in a really nerdy film way), but where's Arnold?

My God. Dolph Lundgren is a monster. Keep your children away lest he shove a grenade down their throat.

Yeah Dolph! You show 'em dawg! (Killing is bad.)
