A group of prominent people in the film industry which included Robert Da Niro banded together after the 9/11 Tragedy to organize a film festival in the devastated TriBeCa community in Manhatten. The festival was meant to encourage more creativity in the film industry in both big budget pictures and small indie films. The Tribeca Film group have aided films such as Last Night and the festival itself has caused great success for movies such as Let the Right One In. It also has proved as the premiere for several big budget films such as Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Spider-man 3. It is a big honor for a film to open the festival and often indicates faith that it will be a success critically as well as commercially. This year that honor went to R-rated romantic comedy The Five-Year Engagement. Universal has been marketing it as a clever and touching story in the vein of Bridesmaids and this motion is going to support that image. I hope it turns out to be the case.
