I saw Gary Whitta post this earlier today on Twitter. I haven't read the books but honestly, it is sickening to think people would say that (jokingly or not).

Haven't read the book but does it matter what her color is? I personally didn't like the movie and I didn't say to myself "Well if that black chick was a different race I might have enjoyed the movie more." People are just stupid and twitter is the proof. Would've thought people would be over skin color by now in this day and age...guess not.

I don't see what the big deal with Rue, Thresh, and Cinna being black is? They played their parts well, especially Lenny Krativz, and the movie was a success. The people who are freaking out about this need to chill.

After reading these books, I'm curious as to how they're going to faithfully adapt the gorier portions into a PG-13 movie, but I guess we'll find out in March. They're certainly not showing much in these trailers.
