The Hunger Games Has Already Pre-Sold More Tickets Than Any Non-Sequel Ever

I never knew this franchise even existed until a few months ago when buzz surrounding the movie started to heat up. I'll see it eventually, but it doesn't seem to have the same balance of whimsy and drama that Harry Potter had, so I'm in no rush. Comparisons, at least at a market level, to Twilight doesn't excite me either.

I would rather see someone in Hollywood adapt Artemis Fowl.

I'm holding off for two weeks before I watch it. I must say, having read the books over the last two weeks, I'm not too thrilled by a few of the casting choices. Stanley Tucci would have been better as Cinna, I think. And Gale is all wrong, too.

From the trailer it looks like your typical Twilight-tween cash-grab exercise. I also don't buy for a microsecond that the author didn't read Battle Royal, or watch the movie.

It's too bad the book sucked. At least the movie looks like it will be pretty good.

That sucks.

@ProjektGill: Yup, I'm in the same situation too. I might end up watching the movie first because it'll be a while before I try getting into the books.

My plans are to see early Friday morning because the mass of kids that are gonna see it will be in school right? Let's hope I'm not wrong.

I read and then watched Battle Royal however many years ago and really enjoyed the whole "make the kids fight to the death" thing. I had never heard of any other fictional work do that kind of thing so it felt very novel. Then a few months back I saw the Hunger Games trailer on youtube and figured it was a more lighthearted take on that idea.

Can anyone who's experienced both fictions tell me if this is worth it?

I enjoyed the movie well enough to read the book. I don't know that I enjoyed the movie well enough to see it a second time.

All this movie needs is puppies and Rorie would be celebrating it.

I enjoyed it.

I don't understand the buzz about this movie? It just came out of nowhere.

Trailer 3: The Hunger Games

After reading these books, I'm curious as to how they're going to faithfully adapt the gorier portions into a PG-13 movie, but I guess we'll find out in March. They're certainly not showing much in these trailers.

Trailer 2: The Hunger Games

Running Man with kids? This movie is basically everything I've ever wanted.
