It is an adventure/romance, but it is pretty dark. There is little humor. Also, be warned that the sequels will be EXTREMELY dark. But it is very high quality and exciting. Great acting too.
It is vital to mention that the romantic sub-plot is horribly presented, though. Much like the moralization in the Suzanne Collins' novel of the same name, it's handled in a rather ham-fisted and brutish manner--don't go into the film expecting subtlety or deftness; it's a blunt and straightforward film. It's a solid flick, but I would say that it's certainly over-rated.

This guy speaks the truth. Also bring a barf bag. The shaky cam is nausea inducing.

I just finished reading the book and omg. They completely ruined their portrayal of Peeta and Katniss relationship in the film!

what. I thought it was really believable.
My opinion is the movie was an excellent adaptation.

Am I the only person who didn't have issues with the shaky cam?
I thought it helped tell the story.
It's like Running Man with a dash of Twilight (I assume) as a romantic basis, and maybe some 1984 if you're really looking for it.
I watched it and then breezed through the three books. The TL;DR version of the Hunger Games phenomenon is "It's the new Harry Potter craze".

Trailer 3: The Hunger Games
After reading these books, I'm curious as to how they're going to faithfully adapt the gorier portions into a PG-13 movie, but I guess we'll find out in March. They're certainly not showing much in these trailers. |

Trailer 2: The Hunger Games
Running Man with kids? This movie is basically everything I've ever wanted. |
