Everything I didn't think it was going to be

I finally was able to watch this movie, and I have to admit that it really bored me to tears.  Going into it I really thought that this was exactly the type of movie that I usually get into, but I really felt it lacking on so many fronts.  Even with its billing, the bulk of the movie is an unintelligible mess, which really disappointed.  I understood the story, but the way in which it was presented felt overly crafted and obtuse.  In many ways, it was trying too hard to be "that" film.  That is not even eclipsing the disappointing special effects.  I was expecting so much more from the psychedelic trailers.  I genuinely wanted to love this movie, but had a hard time even getting through half of it.  From the first five minutes I knew that this movie was not what I thought it was going to be.  A shame really.
