My first impression was this was a thinly veiled parody of the Fantastic Four. However, I was blown away by seeing it as the characters are all real and truly complex characters in their own right. The backstory of the Incredibles was really impressive too; I enjoyed how petty legalism brought down Mr. Incredible where supervillains failed to do so and how he is suffering from a midlife crisis and looking back to his glory days. His wife is struggling to keep the family from falling apart and the kids are kids pure and simple; one is dealing with teen angst while the other one is suffering from being a kid and glorifies in his powers. Plus, the scenes with Edna Mode, the fashion designer to superheroes was just funny and Syndrome is one outrageous villain! He manages to combine being ridiculous and sinister at the same time. The animation is top notch as usual from Pixar, the sets are lavishly detailed, and there is some pretty funny action scenes interspaced in-between some serious dramatic moments. I have to say that after seeing the Incredibles, I had some serious hopes for the Fantastic Four movie released a year later and was utterly let down.
