Like this, but with Jack Black.
Like this, but with Jack Black.
Heat Vision reports today that the same writing duo that brought us Kung Fu Panda will be taking on the writing duties for the upcoming and inevitable sequel to this year's smash hit, The Karate Kid. Cyrus Voris and Ethan Reiff have also brought us Bulletproof Monk, Showtime's Sleeper Cell, and wrote the original story that went on to become Ridley Scott's Robin Hood.

Seems like as good a fit as any to write a feel-good, yet not terribly substantive kid's movie about martial arts. I mean, it's not the team that brought us the Sidekicks or anything, but still a decent choice.

No word yet on what the story holds for Jaden Smith's character in this sequel. The only way I'm seeing it, though, is if they follow the original Karate Kid, Part 2's  strategy and enlist the one and only Peter Cetera to write the theme song again.

Didn't care for the new Karate Kid at all. Don't know about this.

So upon the DVD release are we going to get a worse or worser between Jaiden Smith's Karate Kid and Hillary Swank's The Next Karate Kid?

I don't like Peter Cetera, but the ladies do. Therefore, I love Cetera.

I didn't mind the Karate Kid (remake), but I will say that it was a beautifully shot film, and Mr. Chan's best performance to date.

Karate Kid was ok and Jackie Chan was great in it but I honestly don't want to see another movie with Jaden Smith until he is at least 17 years old.

So Charlie Kaufman is going to play script doctor on this too?

15 years from now, they will be making the remake of the karate kid remake.

Haha, I hope it improves it because I liked Kung Fu Panda much more than Karate Kid. (Hint: reshoot the movie shot by shot and call it Kung Fu Kid).

Karate Kid sucked ass, one of the most boring martial arts movies I have ever seen. I also felt really weird at the end when those little kids were breaking each other's jaws and ribs while their maniacal parents were cheering on in frenzied blood-lust.

Well great, an unnecessary squeal to an unnecessary remake.
