Thoughts on the first two episodes?

I thought they were fantastic. So far the show does an excellent job of capturing the spirit of the original show while still feeling new. Both the mix of humor and fighting is spot on, and I really like Korra. She's completely different from Aang which adds a whole new flavor. I originally wasn't sure about the steam punk style but I really dig it. It actually seems like a pretty natural fit.

What did you guys think of it? Excited for more?

Note: If you haven't seen them yet, you can watch the first two episodes here. http://www.korranation.com/

I'm very excited. The worst part of the original show was Aang as a character, who, while usually fine, just rang a little bit too annoying. I like how the characters are mostly older now, and I love the new Feudal Japan/1920s style. Korra seems to be a great main character, and the new world created is very interesting. That being said, I'm not sure as to how long the show will be able to keep its momentum, considering it's only in one location and Korra has but one element to master.

put simply OMG SQUEEE

Man two episodes in and I am digging it. I like Korra a lot more than Aang dude had some cool moments but you could argue he was one of teh least interesting characters. I love the choice to make it like 1920s Japan. Also JK Simmons is pretty awesome as Tenzin.

The animation quality look a lot better than the previous series. The background alone are better they remind me a lot more of the forrest in Jet with the blurred water paint look.

The art and animation are pretty amazing. Setting it in basically the 1920s seems like a natural evolution of that universe. These first two episodes have a proper balance of seriousness and humor, the former outweighing the latter. I loved the previous series, but sometimes it just seemed too silly. The characters in Korra are great and much more bearable.

Also, the polar bear-dog is fucking adorable.

For anyone saying Ang was the worst character at least he had such a solid group backing him up I haven't watched either episodes as I want to wait for more of a backlog but isn't Korra going to be by herself

@TheFaithfullyDeparted: no she has Tenzin and the brothers Mako and Bolin to wonder around with

@TheFaithfullyDeparted: It's probably going to have less characters than the original show, which would usually split between an Aang A storyline and a Zuko B storyline, but Korra definitely has other characters alongside her.

They first two episodes were great, the animation is superb and the music is really good.

Where'd you hear she was going to be on her own? It's only two episodes in and she already has a sizable supporting cast - she has Tenzin and his family, her pro-bending teammates, her villain, and her adorable polar bear dog companion. Besides, even though I did like Aang (though not as much as I liked most of the supporting cast), Korra already seems a lot more compelling and fun than he was.

And regarding the episodes, they exceeded my expectations. Considering how high my expectations were, that's a pretty amazing accomplishment.

Oh my god! I didn't even realize it was him. Man, he's a really good voice actor.

I cant seem to figure out how to get to it. i find myself on the facebook fan page. Is it because im in Canada?

Yeah, totally in love with it. The world is now in a weird almost Hong Kong noir kind of place, with guys on the radio saying moxie and Triads roaming the city streets. Love that cultural mishmash, works surprisingly well. Not to mention that Korra is already probably one of the better female leads in ... all of TV? Yeah, all of TV. WOO!

I truly enjoyed the episodes. They were light-hearted in the right places, darker in others. It matches the tone of A:TLA pretty well.

That said, I have always known that it will never be AS good as A:TLA. It's can't. The stakes can't be that high again and it all still make sense. So I've had my expectations pretty grounded. And for what I was hoping LoK would be, it's lived up to it wonderfully.

The best part is seeing how Aang's world has progressed since the war ended. It was nice seeing the links to the characters we loved in the old show and I'm hoping they don't overuse that trick. Katara, sure. Toph's kid, Aang and Katara's kid, OK. Hopefully they will not milk our love for the original cast too much though. Let this new chapter stand on it's own. It's off to a strong start.

@Jenna: @MrMazz: Well my bad on that just from the trailers and such it made it seem like she was going to be alone as I said i haven't watched and episode yet

Post by Red (508 posts) See mini bio

@JeanLuc: I knew that he was going to be in the show as Tenzin, so while watching the episode I was wondering if Tenzin was the real Tenzin, or if I was listening to some work in progress version that was pre-a JK simmons recording, then the credits came and it was him all along. In the second episode it's a little easier to tell as he gets into a grumpy mode a bit, but yeah, it's nice to hear some Simmonsian range.

@MrMazz: where did u get that link from? and i cant tell how long this is... it is both episodes? any thanks

Watched both and I am really impressed; I am really liking the idea of having a strong female hero like Korra as you don't see it all that often still. Korra is also just really hot for an animated character. Consider me a fan.
