There's some joy to finally seeing a guy like
Matthew McConaughey in a good film - he's been all over the place for a long, long time, mainly in various really bad and ugly romantic comedies.
The Lincoln Lawyer is a film that proves
McConaughey can be very good when playing the right character in the right film - this is a smart, entertaining courtroom thriller that you should not miss, as good films of this type are a rarity these days. There are some really strong characters here, and the script which is adapted from Connelly's novel is also fine, and the film never takes itself too seriously - it is a thriller about themes that are often very dark, but it always finds a place for a good joke or two.
The Lincoln Lawyer is a hidden gem in the big list of summer blockbusters, and therefore you should definitely see it.
