The Manchurian Candidate (1962)

Edit this Page
John Frankenheimer Director previously directed All Fall Down

Despite a seething underbelly of hatred for him by his fellow soldiers, Raymond Shaw is awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor following the Korean War. When Major Bennett Marco, Shaw's CO, begins an investigation into Raymond's actions, an inconceivable plot involving Raymond, his mother, and Communist brain-washers is uncovered.

Trivia:

Angela Lansbury was 36 during the filming of The Manchurian Candidate, only three years older than Laurence Harvey, who plays her son.

Quote: Raymond Shaw

It's a terrible thing to hate your mother. But I didn't always hate her. When I was a child, I only kind of disliked her.
