Ken Follett's awesome book about the building of a british cathedral set against the origins of the Free Masons is now a TV show starring Donald Sutherland, Ian McShane and that dude what played Van Gogh in Doctor Who series 5.

did anybody catch the first two episodes? thoughts on comparison to the book? general quality?

I've been watching it religiously, no pun intended.  Highly recommended.  The rape and the incest are bad but it's definitely worth sticking it out.  The character of Aliana is very interesting, a bit heavy handed but she made you believe that there was at least one successful female wool merchant in medieval history.  Most of all, the overall theme of creation versus destruction really resonates with me for some reason.
