I just gone done watching The Prestige about an hour ago. Brilliant movie, as you may know, I love the way things are hinted at throughout the film and revealed at the very end. There's just one thing that I'm confused about and it's the person in the tank of water in the last shot of the movie. Who was in there, and what's the significance? And I'm I stupid for being confused?

It's tanks full of Hugh Jackman clones, isn't it? I think it is, if I remember correctly.

Whoa, really? How did that happen? Did he just use Tesla's machine to clone himself a shit load of times?

Yes, everytime he did the trick one new clone was created and then killed.. except he never knew if he would be the dead one or the clone on any given night. They pretty much hint and spell it out at the end there.

Yeah, it was kinda ironically playing off 'living the act' which was mentioned in the film a few times - though the characters' approach differed.
Been a while since I've seen it, I should watch it again soon

@sneaky77: @skidd: AH! I can't believe I didn't realize that! Alright, thanks!

@MetalGearSunny: Don't worry, I actually found the ending to be confusing too. For me it's probably Nolan's trickiest film to get your head around on first viewing.

@Joe: Yeah, I thought it was kinda hard to tell where in the timeline some scenes were for me, but now I feel I have a small grasp on it.
