Originally a live tech show on the ZDTV network The Screen Savers was passed around a few networks including Tech TV and eventually G4 and went through a handful of hosts and iterations. Leo Laporte was the original host along with Kate Botello and he is considered the father of the whole show.  
 
Many of the hosts have gone on to some form of geek fame including Leo Laporte going to TWiT, Kevin Rose founding Digg.com, and Alex Albretch moving onto acting and podcasts.
