The guy signed a contract, if he didn't see the value in the property its his loss.

Gotta agree with this. He willingly signed away all of his rights. It's not like they told him, "hey, this is a contract for the catering company, can you sign it real quick so we can eat." They straight up told him what it was and he signed it.

Wait, why did he sign away everything for the show to get produced?

If it did get produced, he would get nothing. If it didn't get produced, he would get nothing. The only difference is that the show would get made, if this is true, and that's it. I can't imagine his creative drive was so strong that he wanted the show made above all else, including personal gain or credit.

This just reeks of comic book artists who did a small contract, sold over the rights because he didn't care or think it would amount to anything, then moved onto the next project. This happens in the comic book world all the time.

If you sign a contract without the benefit of foresight or a lawyer, you kinda screwed yourself . . . . though we all do that each time we sign a EULA on software/games/electronics, and comic writers/artists with work for hire. When in doubt, let the sharks . . . lawyers read the paperwork first, because your "friend" or collaborator today may not know you tomorrow.

Money does a lot people. And as cynical as it sounds always check the work. Friends family. Spouses even children you can't guarantee they want a bigger piece of the pie.

Tony Moore is legit one of the chillest dudes I've met on this fair internet of ours. It's probably why it's taken this long for him to press for what he believes is his fair share. I wish him luck.

Honestly, this sort of rights issue has been going on since Superman-times. It's every bit as integral to the comic book character creation process as random exclamations of "Excelsior!" and drawing way too many pouches.

Also, be careful what you say jokingly . . when it could reasonably come back in a lawsuit. Really, don't kid about trickery in getting people to do something . . . it's the crack that shatters.

This dude in no way shape or form deserves anything. He signed, read and understood what he had in front of him. He only cares now because he knows TWD is making bank.
