Sucks of poverty and laziness

Virtually no zombies for a ZOMBIE APOCOLYPSE. Characters that might as well representations of screaming apes. Cheap scares so stale they make Romero blush. Two episodes set in a couple rooms. A majority of time spent in an empty field or forest screaming no production value. The entire thing stinks of budget cuts and laziness. The only redeeming quality is the complete anti-hero aspect they tease for the 3 season, which promises only more budget cuts. Walking Dead officially sucks.

well aren't you overdramatic...

i hate this trend of being a nitpicky fuck and complaining about everything on internet forums to seem "above it all".

don't like it? thats fine! don't post dramatic over the top posts on forums for attention. jesus....

i don't like mad men, i find all the characters to be completely unlikable dickbags so i can never care about the drama in any of the scenes cus i dont care about the characters. thats fine. guess what i don't do? i don't go whine about it on the mad men forum.

Uhm, the fact that the writing is atrocious is the real impairment. But, I concur, the show does lack the sense of omnipresent perilousness that should accompany any decent zombie-imbued piece of fiction.

Making a television show like this (mostly outdoors, big crew, lots of actors) is NOT cheap even if there isn't a lot of fake blood and facial prosthetics. And trying to make a good show on a tight budget isn't lazyness, quite the opposite.

Some characters can be mildly irritating and inconsistent if if you think it sucks so badly, go watch something else.

OP, you're kind of missing the point. It's fine to dislike a show for any reason, bad acting, writing, pacing, etc., but the lack of Zombies is very intentional. Robert Kirkman, the creator/writer of the original comic said early on that the title "The Walking Dead" refers not to the undead folks, but rather the living ones. It's a study of how these random people, forced together, cope with having their lives completely uprooted and destroyed. If you think it fails at that, fine. If you don't like the lack of action, that's fine too. But you really can't complain that there aren't enough zombies in a comic/show that doesn't intend for there to be.

This. Also, OP, you mention how there are "cheap scare so stale they make Romero blush." I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you've seen at least the first two if not three Dead movies. What do you think was going on there? Most of his scares were fairly cheap too as he worked on a small budget. Hell, Dawn of the Dead is almost an action flick they're shooting so many zombies. Romero used the same slow build to the conclusion, just like The Walking Dead does. Yes, their budget was cut by AMC which made no sense to me seeing as it was their highest rated original series and the highest for a cable channel ever. Hopefully that will be rectified for season 3. We know plenty of people think The Walking Dead is boring, poorly written, etc. but at least we keep the arguments to stories posted. If you had brought something new to the table as to why this is a bad show, we could have a better discussion on it.

Oh, one last thing: Did you not watch the season finale of The Walking Dead? There were a fuck ton of zombies and a shitload that got killed.

Yeah, the show has sucked ever since the second episode of the first season. I stopped watching a long time ago.

@Kenobi: The show is not about "Hot Zombie Action", it's about the struggles of the characters, who are trying to not only survive, but somehow also retain their humanity. Also, personally I almost died from the tension I felt during the episode where they meet the zombie horde on the highway. But hey, opinions, whaddayagonnado, amirite?

@Clonedzero: The Internet is for complaining. And yes, madmen is just a show of horrible people being horrible. Not really sure how you are trying to use 'trend.' Yes? The general tendency of forums is to complain or discuss. Aren't you being a little picky?

@Christoffer: Yes it is cheap. It cuts production costs significantly.

@Sandor: That was the exception. No real action just some fantastic tension and scares. Nothing like that happens again

@rem25: Word of the day - Stale

1: tasteless or unpalatable from age <stale bread>

2: tedious from familiarity <a stale routine>

3: impaired in legal force or effect by reason of being allowed to rest without timely use, action, or demand <a staleaffidavit> <a stale debt>

4: impaired in vigor or effectiveness

@gangly: I also agree. The stars of the show aren't the zombies. It's the people. But any survival developement is retarded by the severe lack of any danger. They have surplus food, clean water, etc. The whole point of the scenario has been benched.

Those who keep telling me to watch something else. First, can you think of something new to say? That phrase curses every forum since forums. Be creative, stop flying through forums on autopilot. THE POINT of my writings is that I have already watched it, obviously.

In my 'like' opinion man. Is that action movies/shows for zombies is balls. The whole point of the apocalypse is survival. Finding where to go to the bathroom, finding food, clean water, fighting malnutrition and avoid the first predator a man has ever had since the invention of the spear. The whole fucking point is null when you film an entire flick in a town with one zombie and the actual 'threat' is safely locked up, while the man characters 'suffer' through each others personalities. They're not suffering through trying to survive, they are all ostensibly having some version of a midlife crisis.

I am all for zombie apocalypse soap opera. With all the soapy dumb baggage that goes with.

What they have done, is trash. I can only make conjecture. But I assume many of the scenes were heavily regulated by production heads. Not that is an excuse.

So you didn't like a tv show that you voluntarily watched, and you have now come here to tell us that it sucks. What are you expecting to happen with this thread exactly aside from arguing with people who don't think it sucks?

This is what you sound like to me right now:

No one likes a condescending a-hole. Instead of giving me a dictionary definition of the word, why don't you give me examples what makes the show so "stale". It's being adapted from Kirkman's comic, which honestly is one of the better written comics out there today.

Okay, but that's not the point of this apocalypse. You complain that the show is cliche, and then complain that it sucks because it doesn't follow the cliches enough.

You're getting frustrated comments from people because you're not really criticizing the show itself. It sounds (at least) like you're just very angry that it isn't the kind of zombie show you like. Like if I say "Top Gun" can lick my taint, because I prefer flying to be shown in a different way. Just doesn't make any fucking sense.

@rem25: I think the original argument here is becoming "impaired in vigor or effectiveness". ;)

That's your answer? It cuts the costs like any other show on television. What dreamworld do you live in where productions get infinite funding? With that reasoning most shows are bad. But, again, go ahead and dislike it all you want.

Season 2 was pretty shit. The writing is just awful. They have no idea what they are doing with Lori. She literarlly only exists to be contrarian. No one is going to give a fuck by the time she dies.

Enjoyed season 1 quite a lot and the action sequences of season 2. Hoping that 3 will be less like 2 and more like 1.
