The Screened Community's officially unofficial rough-transition-period film news supplement.

It looks like the third film in the "Blood and Ice Cream" trilogy finally has its script.

Earlier today, Simon Pegg posted the picture below to his Twitter account with the message "I know we took our sweet time but as soon as I get back from outer space, we can finish this thing once and for all" attached.

The photo appears to be the finished, or near-finished, script for 'The World's End.'

'The World's End' will see Pegg team up once again with good friend Edgar Wright, as well as (if I had to put my money on it) Nick Frost.

Pegg, Wright and Frost teamed up on Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz--the first two films in the trilogy.

The last time we heard anything about 'The World's End' from Pegg, it was nothing more than a title on a whiteboard.

What do you guys think? Are you excited for another Pegg, Wright and, most likely, Frost joint?

I cannot think of a more rhetorical question than this! ;)

Not sure if I'm in the minority, but I liked Hot Fuzz even better than Shaun, so I'm thoroughly expecting this one (considering all of their intervening experience) at least up to par with those amazing films. Huzzah!

Any speculation about the flick itself yet? Shaun was a send up of horror, Fuzz of action, so does it make sense that this would be inspired by disaster movies?

@gangly: I really really enjoyed Hot Fuzz. I don't know if I'd say I liked it more than Shaun of the Dead, but I thought it was really good.

They do love their genre parodies, so it only makes sense for this film to follow suit. A disaster movies-style parody makes sense. Not sure if they've said anything official on the actual plot, though.

Yep, I'm definitely interested in how this turns out. I can't say that I've enjoyed all their work that they've done separately from each other but Hot Fuzz was absolutely hilarious.

I'm down for anything Pegg puts out

@gangly: So did I. I don't hold the same level of appreciation some folks in here do but they were fine films, Hot Fuzz was my favorite of the two.

@gangly: Strike me up as another duder who prefers Hot Fuzz over Shaun of the Dead

With regards to The World's End they have made things tough for themselves by leaving it so long... expectations will naturally be higher. I wish them luck.

There's been lots of speculation over the years about what genre the film will fall into (and i think at some point i've seen both Pegg & Wright deny them all)... Common Sense says, looking at their personal interests & influences, it should be Science Fiction, but this is the genre i've seen them 'debunk' the most.... The title sounds very James Bond, but that is way too close to Hot Fuzz... A disaster movie fits the title, but that may just be a little too close to Shaun plus i've never heard either of them mention any interests in that particular genre!

One last thought - If any of you have read Simon Pegg's autobiography, you will be aware he keeps slipping into a fantasy where he is a sort of detective super hero with gadgets and a robot sidekick - Just last week he tweeted he should turn it into a movie.... Both Pegg & Wright are big comic book fans, and comic book movies have been the biggest vogue of the last decade!

@DefAde: The comic book theory actually seems pretty plausible. I kind of hope that's not the genre they're tackling, though. A disaster film seems more interesting to me.

I'll tell you something else.... Someone with good forensic Photoshop skills could totally figure out what that text says on the back of the front page
