Who Should Direct THOR 2??

Branagh is, for better or for worse, officially out.  Who would you like to see take his place.

Possible Choices (Though I Don't Think They Will Actually Be Chosen):

Sam Raimi
The Spiderman director has invented the modern day superhero genre.  He makes movies with depth, humor, action, and astounding visuals.  It would be hard to find a better choice.

Renny Harlin
Die Hard 2, Cliffhanger, and 12 Rounds director Harlin is not used to fantasy, but he definitely knows how to do action.  He has an annoying tendency towards shaky-cam, but he generally makes entertaining films with everything wanted from an action movie.  And he usually works with a smaller budget, and his visions could be improved with more money.

Martin Campbell
Green Lantern was a flawed movie, yes, but it also proved Campbell is skillful with super-hero, fantasy-esque movies.  And the more comic Thor would be a better choice for the light attitude that some were offended to see used on Hal Jordan.

Gavin Hood
X-Men Origins: Wolverine managed to make a good story that fit continuity with the other XMEN films and left room for other movies (such as Gambit).  And Hood won tons of praise for indie pictures.

I know it won't  happen but I would like to see James Cameron have a go at it.

Id throw Campbell out of the running right away he works well if he has a good script if he dosen't have a good one we get stuff like Green Lantern and Golden Eye and Legend of Zorro Not that the writers can't give him a good script that kind of problem generally makes me wary

Branugh would be a good choice he handled it well just get him a producer who can nudge him in a better direction when it comes to directing action set pieces.

Hate to sound like a super Joss Whedon fan but his style kind of fits the kirby styling of Asgard

Guillermo Del Toro. Because he's doing everything else, so why not add another project to the list, right?

Someone good.  I hate to say it but I thought Thor sucked, the franchise has the potential to be good.  So I would recommend an Incredible Hulk style restart with a competent screen play and director.

NOOOO!
have you heard of the last time cameron tried adapting a comic book?  It was Spider-man and the script had scenes like Peter Parker undressing Mary Jane with spider-webs.  it was so shocking and unfaithful the studio demanded he completely rewrite it so he quit.  then he went and wrote a movie about why people should hate America.
i really think he would be the worst possible choice.  EVER!

i would have said Louis Letterier (who did Incredible Hulk), but I really want them to bring him back for the Hulk sequel.

@VioletEyedDragon: Cameron would probably make his own ideas but on a sheer spectacle point he would be great with the Asgard stuff and the ice giants. I had not heard that about his Spider man script but I would still give him the benefit of the doubt as what is written on paper may sound bad but when it is put to film it might not have been that bad, that and it could not have been worse than some of the stuff in the spider man 3.

Depends on what the script looks like, but a few good directors who might be a good fit are Joe Wright (Atonement, Hanna), Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, X-Men First Class) and David Yates (the last few Harry Potters).  If the producers want to try someone you wouldn't normally associate with the genre again like Branagh, then how about Steven Soderbergh?  He did Out of Sight and the Oceans movies so he understands how to make something thriller-like, but he's good at keeping the protagonists believable which could easily spiral away in a Thor movie.

but cameron is a guy with a vision so strong he couldnt make it fit with the comic and the rest of the Avengers franchise.
also, i hated how un-American AVATAR was

interesting choices.  vaughn i wouldnt like because hes done two comic book movies and both times they were horribly unfaithful.  and im not wild with the cinematography on Yates' harry potter movies (and how it didnt match with Columbus's)
still, interesting choices.

I'd like them to stay on the path of actual directors who can direct.

Tom Ford, Duncan Jones, or Kathryn Bigelow.

I am frustrated by the love for SOURCE CODE (which is probably much of the reason you picked Jones seeing as he only made 2 movies)   i thought that movie was terrible.
also, what is wrong with Raimi, Harlin, Campbell, and Hood (since you implied they couldnt really direct)

Sorry to disappoint Violet, but i am yet to see Source code. I am however a HUGE moon fan.

I was more implying that the director should be able to direct and not just string together action sequence after action sequence.

I dislike all those choices. Brad Bird or Duncan Jones maybe?

I honestly don't want anyone but Kenneth Branagh doing a Thor movie. I didn't like the movie that much but I thought Branagh did a good job. It's a shame that he isn't returning because I honestly have no interest in seeing a sequel.
