In an event that shocked pretty much no one, Thor retained the top spot this weekend, merely dropping about 48% from last weekend, earning over $34 million. Clearly, the chiseled, baby-smooth chest of one Chris Hemsworth was too powerful for the competition. Namely, Paul Bettany's glower-power and Kristen Wiig's awkward misadventures in love, friendship, and street-shitting--you'll get it if you see the movie.

For their part, Bridesmaids and Priest came in 2nd and 4th, respectively. To use the alliterative parlance of a 1950s entertainment trade reporter, Bridesmaids was boffo! The filthily funny females farted in the face of the remaining competition, earning nearly $25 million. Meanwhile, Priest strayed from the righteous path, only earning a mere $14.5 million toward its $60 million budget! What a sin! What a scoop!

Yeah, this is what happens to me when I sleep six hours in three days. Anyway, as for the indie market, the biggest opener was the Will Ferrell dramedy Everything Must Go, which opened on a little over 200 screens and earned $825,000. Hesher, which opened on 40 screens, had a similar per-screen average, and about $127,000 earned. Go For It, the Latina-targeted "hip-hop" movie that looked sprung from the gates of after-school special hell, also opened on a little over 200 screens, and earned less money than Hesher. $110,000, specifically.

Say five Hail Marys, cross yourself, jump down, turn around, pick a bale o' cotton, and let's check out the top ten list.

	1. Thor $34.5 million / $119.3 million So, I guess it's safe to say people will go see just about any big budget Marvel adaptation the studio sees fit to produce. Can't wait for that super-captivating Black Widow spin-off, and for that $150 million Moon Knight movie.
	2. Bridesmaids $24.4 million / NEW Women be filmgoiiiiiiinnnnn'!!!
	3. Fast Five $19.5 million / $168.8 million $440 million worldwide. I just love that this movie has become the benchmark by which all other summer movies will be judged this year. It's just so perfect.
	4. Priest $14.5 million / NEW Bet the studio's glad they spent all that money upconverting the movie into 3D, right? Eh? Sigh...
	5. Rio $8 million / $125 million It's gotten to the point where I'm almost begging for Cars 2 to get here, just so I can stop staring at this stupid bird every single week.
	6. Jumping the Broom $7.3 million / $26 million Meh.
	7. Something Borrowed $7 million / $25.7 million Feh.
	8. Water for Elephants $4.1 million / $48.5 million Bah!
	9. Madea's Big Happy Family $2.2 million / $50.2 million Blargh!
	10. Soul Surfer $1.8 million / $39.2 million WHY. WON'T. YOU. JUST. DIE.
