Listen here, son. I've been hamming it up in ridiculous costumes since before you were born. Stick with me, and maybe you too can one day rock a golden eye-patch.

Over the last few days a number of new shots from Marvel's upcoming Thor movie have been circulating around the web. I'm not big on the "OMG NEW PICTURE WHOLE NEW POST PLZ" thing, but now that we've got a few of 'em, thought it would be prudent to post 'em up for you all to check out. So if you ever wanted to see a big, wide shot of Asgard or a picture of Chris Hemsworth getting his hammer on while soaking wet, this is the best day of your life.

Also, yesterday Marvel released two concept art posters, one for Thor, and one for Captain America: The First Avenger. Concept art is cool and everything, but the neat thing here is that both these posters will be sold by Marvel at Comic-Con 2010. So if you happen to be going to the show, these are things you can get. Awesome, right?

What say you Screened users? How do you all like these Thor shots/concept posters?

I'm finding it really hard to get excited about comic book adaptations these days. With the exception of this, that is...

edit: although the Thor director's pedigree looks... unique... enough that it might end up being interesting. His version of Halmet is my favourite.

Thor still looks interesting, Captain America on the other hand has yet to show me anything cool.

i like that they are going more of a sci fi feel like early thor was then lord of the rings fantasy thor

I don't think it looks that bad.

@damswedon: they haven't shown anything yet other then the concept art.  I think Thor is gonna suck..

I honestly couldn't give a shit about the character of Thor, and think that these shots look like...Thor.

This one was going to be a hard sell from the word go. But, shots of actors in costume does not a movie make. I'll hold judgement until I see it in motion.

I think the Asgard pictures are pretty awesome.

Anthony Hopkins makes a far more convincing Odin than he did Zorro.

I dunno; I'm not a big comic fan, so I'm not really interested in either Thor or Captain America as characters.  I also don't expect them to be very good movies, either.

Wait, so... Does Thor take place in modern times? Ancient times? Future?

Forgive my blatant ignorance to comic books, but damn am I confused.

I am, so far, convinced that both the Thor and Cap movies are going to be horrible train wrecks. I have nothing at all to back up this assumption, however.

It's just... a feeling.

Unless I'm mistaken, modern times. Asgard (the realm of the gods) is... another dimension? Something like that? I don't know. If I remember correctly, Thor gets kicked out of godland by his dad, Odin, and takes up residence inside the body of a disabled dude. And when wielding Thor's hammer, he fully becomes the god/superhero.

I am not looking forward to these at all at this point.  I will man up and admit if I am wrong when they come out but neither Thor nor Captain America rank very high on my Superhero lists.

It has a SyFy Channel vibe to it. Nothing screams epic to me. Shouldn't vikings, even the Norse God variety, be a bit more gritty? They just look like pretty actors in ridiculous costumes. Oh, well. Time will tell.

I am mildly interested in Thor.  If it turns out to be the awesomest thing since sliced hammers, then great.  If not, oh well.

However, I have high hopes for Captain America.  I love that piece of concept art.  Wish I could go to Comic Con to get one for myself.

"a picture of Chris Hemsworth getting his hammer on while soaking wet"

I think that's a different movie.
