What kind of 3D is this?

This movie opens up tomorrow here in Norway, and I really want to see it either tomorrow or Thursday. I was going to see it in 2D, but for some reason they don't show that version on my closest theater. So my question is this: Is this the "good" kind of 3D, as in Tron: Legacy? Or is this the crappy 3D like in Alice in Wonderland. Those are the only 3D movies I have seen, so yeah...

It's post-converted, but I've heard it's a good conversion so it should be ok.

Sounds good then. Just ordered a couple of tickets for Thursday. Thanks for the answer!

Yeah, it wasn't shot in 3D but the final product supposedly came out just fine.  One review I saw said if you can save yourself the money, go for the cheaper tickets, but you won't be distracted by the blurry-shoddy 3D that happens in a lot of post conversion movies.

I would go for the cheaper 2D tickets if I could. Seems they are saving that for later. Any way to earn more money I guess. I don't like how movies seem to get darker with those glasses though, so I hope that doesn't dampen the experience. Will come back here on Thursday and share what I thought of the 3D.

I saw Thor yesterday and the 3D is good in that way that you don't really notice it, there's some nice hammer & lightning coming out of the screen moments but that's about it.  My local cinema is showing 8 3D showings a day and 4 2D showings a day this week, next week it goes to nearly all 3D.....

I honestly thought it was a bit muddy, but could've very well been the 3D equipment. I saw Justin Bieber (hey, shoot me) a week earlier and though shot in 3D was incredibly clear and crisp, but felt this wasn't quite up to the level of the Biebs. A lot of the CGI visuals looked slightly muddy (water outside of Asgard in particular) and it's not super 3D intensive like nik said.

Watched it in IMAX. 3D was not good, some action scenes were blurred at all.

3D in IMAX has always sucked, I thought. Since you have to basically be in the center of the screen to get the best view, I find the viewing angles to be a lot narrower. I saw Tron in IMAX&3D, and I think I would have enjoyed it more were it one or the other.

I haven't seen the film yet but from the looks of it, it doesn't seem like a film that needs 3D or gets a huge benefit from it. I'd watch it in 2D.

Just got home from seeing it. The 3D was good enough. A bit blur here and there, but it didn't take much away from the movie. Which was overall awesome by the way. Looking forward to the Avengers more and more.

I saw it in IMAX as well and thought the 3D was pretty good, it seemed more giving scenes depth than things flying out of the screen.

its converted
so is captain america
avengers is shot-in-3d though

you might want to know, though, that conversion has yielded some good results.  the visuals in alice in wonderland, for example.

Saw it for a second time this afternoon but this time in 2D and I have to say if you get the chance see it in 2D, everything's so much clearer especially in Asgard which looked stunning in glorious 2D!
