Here's hoping Hardy has a Bale-like breakdown on McG's set.
Hardy has signed on to join Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon in director McG's upcoming action spy rom-com, This Means War. The story involves two BFF spies (Hardy and Pine) who both fall in love with the same woman (The 'spoon) and proceed to fight each other for her, with the fighting escalating on to full blown warfare.
Interestingly, Sam Worthington had previously been eyeballing this role, but eventually passed on it. Hardy is most definitely a trade up from the Ava-star, but I don't know so much that McG is a trade up for Hardy. The music video director of such bands as Korn, Sublime, and Cyprus Hill has had a less than stellar track record on the few big budget features that he's helmed, yet somehow managed to pull in big talent. (see Christian Bale in Terminator Salvation or Bill Murray in Charlie's Angels)
Regardless of how this turns out, Hardy already seems to have exciting prospects in the pipeline, including the lead role in George Miller's next Mad Max film.
