people don't fucking like 3-D...in it's current form it's garbage.  And will continue to be as long as you have to wear glasses of ANY sort.

stop trying to shove this drivel up our asses hollywood.  don't you lose enough money left and right?

I have a collection of eight pairs of 2D glasses. I am ready, willing, and able to see the hell out of Top Gun again, even though I think a 3D conversion is completely asinine.

I'm lucky to have an art-house theater nearby that will sometimes play older flicks.  They once had a "Luc Besson" week and had showings of Nikita, Leon, and The Fifth Element.

You mean they'll pilot drones OVER Pakistan.

Top Gun is unironically one of my favorite films of all time, but I don't think I'd be up for seeing a 3D version of it.

When I first moved to Pittsburgh - for college - there was a theater across the bridge from ....whatever bridge goes straight to PNC Park. I think it was the Byham Theater? Every summer, they set up a screen and had a summer film festival (normally, they're an actual theater...for shows and whatnot). And every saturday night they'd have a double feature. At least a few films would be from that sweet spot of the 80's/90's, and you can bet i went there every time they'd give a Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Wars, or Enter the Dragon.

My point is, I agree 100% with Rorie. Theater chains should most definitely give a classic movies' night. The theater owners don't have to pay for new movies to distribute, consumers get to see truly great films on the big screen instead of contemporary pigcrap, and....well, that's all really - it IS a win-win!

"It's startling to think that Top Gun, a film that's 25 years old, might be the last of the great fighter pilot films."

Just out of curiosity, what are the other great fighter pilot films that preceded it?

I'm no fan of 3D, but I think the ballroom scene in Disney's Beauty and the Beast would be worth seeing through the process.  The escape with the lamp scene in Aladdin is another good choice.  I'd rather see either of them than Top Gun

If we get Top Gun in 3D, I figure we can expect a 3D version of Navy SEALS soon after. My life would be complete if I got to see Charlie Sheen steal his 1970 Cutlass from the back of a moving Tow truck, if I could see it in 3D.
