Scorsese's kid's film has been getting a lot of great reviews. Still looks kind of cloying to me, but what do I know?

In Scorsese I trust.
I think that may be your hatred of children coming out. Though in all fairness the kid playing Hugo doesn't look like he's that great of an actor. I'm interested to see it because from everything I've heard it makes great use of 3D beyond thing popping out at you.
That freaky automaton is something I find oddly compelling. The entire world here is something that looks extremely visually interesting; just a really, really cool fantasy steampunk world. Very mysterious, and - dare I say - magical? Haven't seen anything genuinely magical on film in awhile -- usually, extremely bad, derivative sh** gets called out for being amazing, like Avatar.
This will probably be a very good "family movie". Martin Scorsese doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who would pump out garbage like the Smurfs in this sector.
Liking the feel I get from the trailer, gonna rent it when it hits blu-ray.
I just am not excited at all for this movie
BEN KINGSLY YAY!
