This movie. THIS FUCKING MOVIE!!!!

With a single trailer, it puts to shame most American action films.

That was amazing. Why did that trailer, and by extension the movie itself, put American Hollywood action movies in their place? Because it was completely realistic, in the sense that Die Hard or any ‘80s action flick was real. What bugs me so much with today’s blockbusters is that they are just so epic in nature, in appearance. This is rhetorical, but why does that huge dust cloud thing happen in Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol? It’s a spy movie! Why does that whole ridiculous jet/truck scene happen in Live Free or Die Hard? Totally unnecessary. Most action movies lately drive me insane with all the inserted over-the-top CGI effects, in what should be a great action movie. I love Super 8, it is such a wonderful movie with tons of nostalgia that entertained the crap out of me. But the train wreck pissed me off. As soon as it started, all I could think was “wow, that didn’t need to happen.” And the design of the alien... Whatever, that’s another rant for another day. The Raid though, looks great. Can’t wait.
