Howdy ho,

A friend of mine shared this video.  Despite having an incredible budget, it looks like Michael Bay cut some corners and reused some footage from a movie made 6 years ago.

Can't embed for some reason.

Is this a clever cost-saving trick or a dirty little secret?

Can't find the video. Anything reused from The Island would appear new to most people due to the fact that very few people saw it and those that did wish they hadn't.
edit- apparently no one in the US watched The Island but everywhere else loved that piece of shit.

The Island was a great movie, far better than any of the Transformer movies.

I am going to kindly disagree about The Island being great but I will agree that Transformers is worse.

Yeah, maybe I just like seeing Scarlett Johansson run around while stuff blows up. :P

i saw this earlier today and my only question is why in the world did they try and save money on a movie whose budget was $195 million?

It's roughly a few seconds in length: it's no big deal.

Maybe it was time, not money.

The irony here is The Island is infamous for copying from other works.

@pat4327: Really, now I am curious. Do you have an article or something?
Michael Bay should of just did a shot for shot reenactment of Bad Boys 2 with Transformers.  I would of shown up day 1 at the midnight screening.

@not_a_bumblebee: All I've got for you is the Wikipedia article but it's pretty interesting. Also, that is the greatest movie pitch I've ever heard. You need to move to Hollywood immediately.

@pat4327: Clones grown for the sole purpose of organ donation feels like it should be public domain by now.
I am convinced that all modern Sci Fi is loosely based off of the work's of Phillip K. Dick.  I am sure if I dug deeper I would find that all of Phillip K. Dick's work is loosely based off of Jules Verne or something.

Actually, I had my eye on the leaked footage for Transformers 3.

@ntm: Thanks for the link. That was awesome.

It's barely a second or two of footage and Disney had been doing it for years. Stop looking for things to criticize.

"The shot from 'The Island' was inserted after an accident that occurred during filming of that particular chase scene in 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon'. A tow-cable snapped, hitting film extra Gabriella Cedillo and resulting in a serious head injury, leaving her paralyzed. This is extremely tragic, and our thoughts go out to Gabriella and her family."

Link.

Couldn't agree more with that.

@not_a_bumblebee: I think you hit the jackpot here: Any previous films directed by Michael Bay and replace the characters with transformer will be better than any MB's transformer movies.

Post by not_a_bumblebee (869 posts) See mini bio
@eshchan: I would kindly disagree as the a Transformer would be unable to capture the raw talent and acting chops of legendary actor of stage and screen, Josh Hartnett as Capt. Danny Walker in the classic of American cinema known only as Pearl Harbor.  Though I think Bumblebee would be a great stand-in for Oscar winning actor, Cuba Gooding Jr.

I think I just made an inadvertent Radio joke.
