I have to admit when I first heard about a sequel to Tron I was lukewarm about the idea at best. I've always been leery of sequels, or remakes for that matter, to cult classics, because I feel like they usually get ruined when the people behind the project try to open up the film to a “broader audience” thus losing most of the aspects that made it cult in the first place. That being said, after hearing all about Tron: Legacy and watching clips over the past few months, I’m pretty excited to check this one out now.

Cinemablend recently posted a gallery featuring a bunch of new photos Disney released to promote the film. And I've got to say they’re pretty phenomenal. I’ve posted a few of my favorites below, but you can check out the rest of the gallery by clicking here.

Death From Above.

This one reminds me a little of Blade Runner.

Void Ray anyone?

Badass is the only word I can think of.

The effects look really, really slick. By the way, I also absolutely love Daft Punk. Check out the 20-minute preview for the score they did  here. The songs previously leaked online were all fakes, except for the one attached to the music video. Throw in Jeff Bridges and the fact that I’ve had a crush on Olivia Wilde since her OC days and you know why I’ll be seeing this one opening night in 3D.

...is Jeff Bridges going to be in it? What can you tell me about ze multiplayer?

Shenanigans aside, the universe they've created for the film looks really slick. I think phenomenal is the right word for those photos, Andrew.

I hardly doubt they can screw this one , after rewatching the first one , which is a very bad film in terms of story and characters , how can you make something worse than that? I do hope the producers were inspired by Blade Runner , to make a good film ;)

It feels like I should be hearing the Inception noise when looking at those pictures.

At the very least this is going to make for some great eye-candy, especially in 3-D.

i love how everything is so sleek but it's all black, instead of the normal apple style gear of sleek and white.

hey yeah that's true.  they keep the black and white look to it a bit.

The closer this movie comes to release the more I keep thinking it will mirror much of the response of it's predecessor; a visual tour de force but nothing impressive story-wise.

I'm sure it'll be fun but, having not grown up with the film, I have no affinity or emotional stake whatsoever. At the moment the biggest appeal if the score.

holy shit those look like the crazy concept art you see far in advance of the movie and think 'wow that's some nice concept art' and then the movie comes out and looks nothing like it.

The soundtrack leak that I had heard sounded pretty much like everything on that preview...so I don't think the one I heard was fake.

Still...this movie...is going to blow...my fucking mind!

I'm absolutely loving everything about the aesthetics of this movie that I've seen so far...I just hope there's some good story and such in there to make it great.
That's what was missing from the original Tron.

Rofl, you mean like the one they copied in the trailer? I wonder how many other movies will be using the inception "horn" in trailers now. Funny stuff.

i like the mix of smoke, rain, polygonal cg, rocks/stone floors and walls, and neon lights of course. it makes it so much more unique.

I was indifferent when I first heard about this, and I'm still not quite sure what to think about it, but my interest is a bit more heightened than it was at first. Shame it's going to be in 3D.

I'm really not expecting this movie to be anything more than a pretty face and a nice body. On top of it Daft Punk let all of us down with the soundtrack so really there's nothing left here.
