It's not really a surpise that Tron:Uprising has been canceled. With nearly not marketing behind it and shitty timeslots Uprising never got the chance it deserved and I'm glad that there will be at least a full season out there (the two remaining episodes will air this month).
Since I think it's a fantastic show I want to give it a last shoutout: Normally I'm not really a fan of 20 minute shows because I get the feeling that there is barely any time to tell a well crafted story (eventhough there are some I enjoy) and I didn't really know what to make of the artstyle at first but I like Tron enough to give any form of video content a chance. In the end it only took the introduction "Beck's beginning" and the first two pilot episodes to get me hooked.
The characters are interesting (the villains are especially well done) and in my opinion it is the best looking show I've ever seen. The mix of cgi and 2D cartoon look makes for gorgeous action sequences including a vast variety of vehicles and hand to hand (or disc to disc) fights. The nature of the Tron universe also allows the writers to get pretty dark with their nearly always well told stories (there wasn't one episode that bored me) since killing means derezzing and you can do that in all sorts of ways without losing the PG rating (there was a great scene in the last episonde where the main character beheaded a foe while driving on a light cycle).
In the end it's a shame that there will be no final resolution, no explanation how this ties into Tron:Legacy but I'll definetly buy the blu-ray and watch it again before the next movie comes out and I can only advise anyone who is interested in the Tron universe to give this a shot.
