People not in the United States of America this video will most likely be blocked. Why companies decide to enforce geographic barriers to their content on the internet is beyond me. I'll be looking for an alt link but haven't found much atm.
According to IGN Becks Beginning will also air on DisneyXD May 18th uninterupted and replay on the 21st
The more I see of this the more I dig the art style. The outline with light makes everything easy to see, but can get confusing to tell what is what like when Beck fought Tessler. The exaggerated style of the good programs generally being tall and skinny contrast nicely with the evil top heavy and short programs.
It struck me as odd that Disney would get Elijah Wood to voice the main character in a Tron miniseries. It all just seemed to expensive for a animated show.Using Wood was a smart choice, his voice has a certain boyish naivete to it fits Beck really well. Lance Henriksen as General Tessler was also a good choice his voice has the right amount of deadpan for a program. At first I thought Mandy Moore was the voice of Paige but it's Emmanuelle Chriqui. The little bits of voice modification that gives everyone a computer sounding voice is a nice touch.
Seeing Tron go all V for Vendetta on Beck as a way to test his resolve was smart. It took me a while to hear Bruce Boxleitner under it all. Now I'm not quite sure where this all fits in on the timeline. Since (or what we assume to be) Tron eventually becomes Rinzler in Tron:Legacy maybe we get some AI Ghost in the Shell style fusion in the end.
It'll be interesting how the ratings boards handle this. What can they and can't they get away with. How much death will be allowed. These technically aren't people and they don't bleed. At the same time there was moments of white flashes instead of showing fist meeting face. I'm not sure if it's the quality of playback or if they made this at a lower FPS than what I am used to but someone of the animation is a bit jerky at times.
