James Cole, a prisoner of a post-apocalyptic world, goes back in time to find the source of a deadly virus that killed off most of mankind and to solve the mystery of the twelve monkeys.
The airport scene at the end of the movie was filmed at the Philadelphia Convention Center. However, the exterior shot of Cole and Dr. Railly walking into the airport was filmed at Baltimore-Washington International Airport.
