ok so i just finished the first season of twin peaks and loved it but ive heard from a couple people that the second season ruins it. What should it do? Is it worth it?

i enjoyed most of it, but i see why people say that. i don't know, are you satisfied now or do you want more?

Well, you have to at least watch up to the point where they solve Laura Palmer's murder!

well its tough to be satisfied with that last shot of the first season but its been excellent thus far. I just dont want the good will the show has built up so far to be spoiled. And i thought they already solved it i thought leo did it

Watch it until the Laura Palmer investigation is over, then stop watching and never look back. The only worthwhile thing in the later half is David Duchovny and you can just watch the clips of him on Youtube.

I watched the first season and a large chunk of the second season over the summer, and it was ok, particularly most of the stuff involving Agent Cooper (2 new characters he crosses paths with keep his scenes from being unquestionably worth watching), but I lost interest 15 episodes in and I'm now in a limbo state of wanting to see how it ends, but not wanting to watch what leads up to the end.

My big problems were some characters you didn't see much of in the first season and probably don't care about get there roles expanded upon in really grating, boring, unnecessary ways. Lots of filler. I guess one day I'll fast forward through the stuff I don't want to watch to get to the end, but I'm in no hurry.

You've definitely seen the best of what Twin Peaks has to offer, I think.

I agree. Later I found out that the producers intended for the investigation to last many more seasons, hence why they didn't have anything good lined up to follow that plot line. The show's network forced them to hit that story climax early for some ratings boost nonsense.

@Levio: ya i read that david lynch hated the idea of revealing who the killer was but after the ratings tanked they felt they needed a booster. sucks ass.

Ok, how the hell did we both make a Twin Peaks topic at the same time?

I thought the second season was pretty cool, then sucks for about 5 episodes, and then ends pretty strong (well, despite the cliffhanger). That last episode had this weird psychological effect on me, so it's at least worth it to see that stuff.

After you finish up, I recommend seeing Fire Walk With Me. Some people diss it because it's much different than the series, but as a David Lynch film, it's friggin' awesome.

Wow the laura palmer stuff wraps up extremely well. The last episode of that arc is incredibly strong. color me impressed

glad i stuck with it

Definitely at least skip to the last 4 or 5 episodes, it ends really well.

@ashogo: wont i be sorta lost if i skip ahead like that?

I was thinking of watching this series at some point but was put off after hearing it ends of cliffhanger, is it still a satisfying ending despite that? I heard there was a movie does that tie things up?

It definitely wanders all over the place but the last 4 episodes are superb and really worth watching the rest of the season to appreciate properly.

Honestly you are missing some really superb TV if you knock off now the last 4 episodes are amongst my fave TV ever. Really scary and the ending is just great. PLEASE watch it.

Why are people asking about this all of a sudden is it on TV somewhere?

@leebmx: In the UK netflix has just launched and it's on there, seeing as you get a free month of it anyway I was thinking of giving it a try to watch Twin Peaks and Firefly since both seem quite highly recommended.

@Gourdmaster: Only a little. There are a few small things you'll miss out on, but nothing really that important. It's a tradeoff; if you want to be completely caught up on all the plot threads, then you'll have to slog through some sub-par episodes. On the other hand, you can skip to the end without really losing much, and save yourself some time.

There are some good moments sprinkled throughout mid-season 2 for sure, David Duchovony and David Lynch's cameo amongst them, whether those things are worth sticking through the more bland elements is up to you. Maybe just see how much you can tolerate, and if you find yourself just wanting to stop, skip ahead. It's better to watch the ending slightly confused than to not watch it at all.

The first half of season 2 is great, then it goes downhill from there, until the last two episodes where it gets fucking phenomenal. The last episode has got to be one of the best episodes of any TV show ever.
