Sometimes there is brilliant film artwork that you come across that grabs your eye and makes you think "wow, that is so rad, it makes me want to know what this film is all about." The poster for the horror found footage anthology V/H/S( that took Sundance by storm) just did this for me and I couldn't help but discuss. The poster is made up of somewhat creepy looking VHS tapes with nothing more than old dates on them, and it makes me curious and nervous as to what will be found on them. At some point, we have all had some of these lurking around our house somewhere, but hopefully they don't usually come together to make any the image of a skull. A synopsis of the film from its website:
"When a group of petty criminals are hired by a mysterious party to retrieve a rare piece of found footage from a rundown house in the middle of nowhere, they soon realize that the job isn’t going to be as easy as they thought. In the living room a lifeless body holds court before a hub of old television sets, surrounded by stacks upon stacks of VHS tapes. As they search for the right one, they are treated to a seemingly endless number of horrifying videos, each stranger than the last"
From what I can tell, there should be some pretty chilling surprises and the way they handle the anthology aspect of it the film is rumored to be actually fresh and interesting. I'm not usually that in to horror, but I must say, this has gotten me intrigued. The film will be available on VOD on August 31st and in theaters on October 5th.
