To even make sense  of the technobabble that is midi-chlorians and to keep the mystisicm is to accept the explanation that  midi-chlorians  ain't the force itself but they gather where the force exist.

Also Rorie is super dreamy in this.

Fuck the prequel's in their fucking faces.

Great video Rorie. Personally it doesn't bother me, it was stupid to add it, it didn't need adding. But it's just one more reason to ignore the prequels.

This is one of the best videos on Screened. I really loved the inclusion of the users comments in the end, keep up the good work.

well the movies is the smalles part of the SW universe, and I would argue that the least interesting part of it... though I think fans are making way too much of a fuzz of things like this, just enjoy the ride and if you don't like don't spend your time on it, whining like a baby only makes you look angry old person... IMO

Mini Koreans are a microscopic life form that resides within all living cells? THAT'S RACIST!

Awesome video feature.
I don't mind the midi-chlorians in the movies but it does take away from the mystical aspect of the force. I liked it better when they were wizards in space who would fight with light swords.

That being said I've found my self moving away from the lore surrounding the movies and becoming more interested in the old republic lore that is the basis for the Bioware games.

Midi-chlorains are dumb but I don't think it ruined the lore. It's mentioned like twice in Episode 1 and never again. People make to big of a deal about it.

Great video and a nice inclusion of the users comments as well. Midi-chlorians should have been left out of the films and I think they are only mentioned once outside of Episode 1.

This was a great video by itself. But the fact that you read some of the comments from the other video (including mine!) in this video really makes it amazing for me.

Maybe that is selfish but I feel involved and enjoy it even more because of it. Great job.

And this.

Midi-chlorians are probably one of the worst aspect of the prequel trilogy. Like Rorie said though, they are so underplayed in the other two movies that it really doesn't bother me that much.

On the subject of Anakin's virgin birth, one of the more interesting theories I heard was he could have been created by Palpatine's master, Darth Plagueis. In RotS, Palpatine mentioned that  Plagueis's knowledge of the force allowed him preserve and even create life.

The Dawson Creek song was a nice touch, thank you for the lulz.
simianon May 12, 2011 at 7:01 a.m.
The VOs were spot on as was the Dawson's Creek theme.

Midi-chlorians are the HIV of the series. It punished us for the good times we had in the original trilogy & made us suffer over our fates until we died broken messes.

Awesome video! I like that you took some of the responses from the poll. I think my response in that poll mirrored your opinion about  midichlorians, which is why I didn't end up in the video RIGHT!? Just kidding =D Keep up the awesome work and please poll the userbase more because it is really fun to see what others think as well.

The prequels (especially episode 1) have tarnished my memories of Star Wars to the point that I dont actively watch any of the first 3, or enjoy most of the stuff they put out that has anything to do with it.
HT101on May 12, 2011 at 7:26 a.m.
I love Star Wars and enjoy the prequel trilogy even with all of the dumb stuff Lucas did in them.  We know that Lucas is not a great director so we should have expected something more like A New Hope(weakest of the original trilogy IMO) than Empire or Return.  Midi Chlorians are probably the least offensive thing to me in Phantom Menace because of Jar Jar, Anakin and the dumb jokes throughout it.

I personally think people got so mad about the prequel trilogy because it wasn't what they wanted it to be so they decided to throw a tantrum about it.  All nerds, myself included, always overreact when something we see or hear about our favorite franchise(s) doesn't mesh with what we think that franchise should be like.
kennyshaton May 12, 2011 at 7:29 a.m.
As someone who more or less grew up with the prequels (My first experience with the Star Wars original trilogy was with the special edition re-releases in the late 90's), I like them quite a bit. Sure, they have issues and I'm definitely of the opinion that the original films are better, but I think the prequel trilogy is still pretty good.
As such, midichlorians never really bothered me. I still always thought of the Force as this big mystical energy field and the midichlorians were just a physical manifestation of it's presence. They always just came off to me as the bridge between the fantasy of the Force and the science fiction of the rest of the Star Wars universe.

Basically, a strong connection to the Force causes a high midichlorian count, not the other way around. After all, Qui Gon senses Anakin before he runs the blood test. The blood test just seemed a way to check for anomalies, after all, Qui Gon had never felt anyone that powerful, so it's understandable that'd he'd want to double check his feelings.

And yeah, the virgin birth thing was kind of weird, but like @Nexas said, there was always the implication in Episode 3 that Palpatine's master, Plagueis, had been the one that caused Anakin to be born. He could "influence the midichlorians to create life" and Palpatine could see into the future (a skill he theoretically would have learned from his master) it stands to reason that Plagueis could have created Anakin with the intent of helping the Sith take over the galaxy as well as destroy Palpatine, who would later kill him, based on a vision of the future. I always found this theory to be fairly interesting.
Redon May 12, 2011 at 7:33 a.m.
Having watched the Red Letter Media rants on each of the prequels, I am now of the opinion that each, although pioneering in special effects, are complete and utter garbage as far as films go.

Midichlorians were ridiculous and poorly thought out, but they were not the stupidest part of the prequels, although a virgin midichlorian birth was pretty close to it.
