Results

Singles Match: R-Truth def. Rey Mysterio

The issues with Rey Mysterio and R-Truth started weeks before Over the Limit when the Anonymous RAW General Manager determined who would compete to become the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship. When Truth was not given a shot but Mysterio was, he called it a conspiracy against him and attacked Mysterio, blaming him for his misfortune. The following weeks the attacks continued until the match was set.

R-Truth defeated Rey Mysterio by pinfall. After the win, he beat him over the head with a water bottle to add insult to injury.

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: Ezekiel Jackson def. Wade Barrett (via disqualification)

Ezekiel Jackson was the muscle of The Corre, using his brute strength to help take out the like of Big Show and Kane. However, tension soon built up between The Corre and Jackson and weeks before the event Wade Barrett kicked him out of the group. The attacks continued week after to week, using the 3-on-1 odds to their advantage.

The odds played a role again in the match. As Ezekiel Jackson was about to finish off Wade Barrett, the rest of The Corre interfered, causing Barrett to be disqualified and retain him championship. They once again beat down Jackson and left him in a heap in the ring.

Singles Match: Sin Cara def. Chavo Guerrero

This match was set up after Chavo Guerrero interfered in Sin Cara's match on SmackDown against Daniel Bryan, helping Sin Cara pick up the win. However, when he saw the replay and realized Chavo interfered, he did not take well to it. Chavo had initially come off as being supporting of his fellow countryman, but it was revealed that instead he had extreme jealously.

Sin Cara defeated Chavo Guerrero by pinfall. However, the finishing move was botched so badly they refused to show a replay of it.

WWE Tag Team Championship: Kane & Big Show def. CM Punk & Mason Ryan

Big Show and Kane had been having issues with first The Corre, and then the New Nexus. Since Big Show was drafted to RAW, CM Punk had been trying to lead the group to take out the "biggest dogs in the yard." He decided to team with the powerhouse of the group to try to take them out and take their WWE Tag Team Championship. Earlier in the night, the other two members of the New Nexus were attacked backstage to prevent them from being involved in the match.
Without the extra back-up, Big Show and Kane retained their championship by pinning Mason Ryan.

WWE Divas Championship: Brie Bella def. Kelly Kelly

The Bella Twins had been getting lucky as of late with Kharma attacking all of the other Divas and taking out their competition. One Diva she did not attack but was stalking though was Kelly Kelly.

Kharma did not make an appearance, but Brie Bella retained after using "Twin Magic" and trading places with her sister when the referee's back was turned, giving them the advantage and the pinfall win.

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Randy Orton def. Christian

Just five days after achieving his lifelong dream of becoming World Heavyweight Champion, that dream was crushed at the hands of Randy Orton as he won to championship on his first night on SmackDown. Christian claimed that he was not at 100% and wanted a rematch at Over the Limit, which Orton accepted. Leading up to the event, the two worked together to find off Mark Henry and Sheamus, who also sought the championship.

The two fought in a competitive match, but Orton retained his championship after an RKO. The two shook hands after the match, showing they still have a good relationship despite everything that's gone down between the two.

Kiss My Foot Match: Jerry "The King" Lawler def. Michael Cole

The rivalry between the egotistical Michael Cole and Jerry "The King" Lawler finally came to a head at Over the Limit. They set up a Kiss My Foot Match after what happened the previous month in England when he was knighted by the "queen" and forced Jim Ross to kiss his foot. The stipulation for the match was that if Cole won, he would receive Lawler's Hall of Fame ring and would be personally inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by Lawler. Unfortunately for Cole, his advantage that helped him out for past few months Jack Swagger left Cole's side after being belittled by him.

Jerry Lawler picked up the win on Michael Cole, and then had Eve and Jim Ross come to the ring to add to the humiliation, dousing Cole in JR's barbecue sauce. After he tried to escape, he was stopped by Bret "The Hitman" Hart, whom Lawler had faced in a Kiss My Foot Match in 1995, and he helped Michael Cole receive a mouth full of foot.

"I Quit" Match for the WWE Championship: John Cena def. The Miz

After winning a #1 Contender's Trip Threat Match on RAW, The Miz earned another chance to get his WWE Championship back from John Cena after having failed to take advantage of his rematch clause. He promised to be the first person to ever make Cena say "I quit" and would do so in a way never done before.

What he meant was that due to no disqualifications, he would have Alex Riley assist him with beating down Cena. The two used chairs, kendo sticks, a leather strap, and anything they could find to nearly push Cena to the limit. When it didn't work, Riley used his cell phone to play a recording of Cena saying "I quit"  and put it up to the microphone to fool the referee into thinking it was legitimate. However, the referee found the phone a restarted the match. John Cena put Riley through the announce table and then strapped on the STF on The Miz on the steel stage, forcing him to quit and allow Cena to retain.
