The major weakness to this film, like so many superhero team films is that there is too much going on. There are so many characters in it that the filmmakers feel compelled to try and give everybody some screentime. I think they managed to keep it relatively contained by mainly focusing on Wolverine, but there is still a bit too much happening. It feels like they spent a third of the movie just introducing everybody.

Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) simply dominates the film, so much so that I was left wondering why they just didn't title this "Wolverine & the X-Men" but he still gives an impressive performance. He's a very physical actor but still has some powerful charisma to him. On the other hand, I as left feeling mildly disappointed at the little screen time that Magneto (Ian MacKellen) and Professor X (Patrick Stewart) were given and they felt woefully underused.

I was also not particularly impressed with the Brotherhood of Mutants though as I felt that they chose some of the weaker and least impressive members to fill out their ranks, even Sabertooth (Tyler Mane) got knocked on his ass with one shot by Cyclops (James Marsden). I mean, the Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Avalanche or even the Blob would have been more impressive than Toad (Ray Park) who should have gotten electrocuted far earlier in the film than he did.

The storyline drags here and there, but surprisingly they managed to keep it mostly on track and one thing that I definitely admired was the impressive special effects.

One of the bigger complaints that I did have is how all of the X-Men were wearing black leather. It did give them a sort of uniform look, but I think that they could have had some sort of distinguishing accents to them like individual colors here and there.

Otherwise, the movie is a decent enough film with plenty of action but it still feels a bit incomplete. Sure, Wolverine is given lots of screen time, but few of the other X-Men are given any time to develop their characters. Still, it delivers a solid enough foundation and is clearly being used a platform for developing future films.
