X-Wing Fighter

Overview:

The iconic star fighter which was used extensively by the rebellion against the the Imperial Empire and it best known for the battle of Yavin, in which it was used to destroy the first Death Star, and in the battle of Endor where is helped destroy the second Death Star. The X in its name was based off of wings, or S-foils, of the starship which, when in attack position, form an "x". While S-foils are closed the X-wing moves faster but cannot fire and is primarily used for traveling. Unlike the other starfighters in the rebel fleet the X-wing was the most versatile and useful in battle, though it lacked a heavy punch, was perfect against many of the Empire's fighters and emplacements.
