While travelling in answer to Ares' request for help, Xena, Gabrielle and Eve help the Amazons ward off an attack. Ares is responsible but Xena owes him for saving Gabrielle and Eve. She investigates while Eve looks familiar to one of the Amazons.
Xena returns home to Amphipolis to see her mother Cyrene but it's a desolate place haunted by ghostly visions. Cyrene's spirit is not at peace and other forces are at work to perpetuate the evil.
Xena destroyed Mephistopheles, King of Hell, and must assume his throne. The ambitious archangel Lucifer intends to throw her into Hell to ensure this happens and to ascend the ranks of Heaven. Meanwhile the portal to Hell remains open and infects everyone near it with evil.
Gabrielle returns home to Potidaea and is reunited with her sister Lila but she imparts tragic news. Their parents and Lila's husband were murdered by the raider Gurkhan and he enslaved Lila's daughter, Sarah. Gabrielle wants revenge but Xena doesn't want her to become an assassin.
Xena and Gabrielle meet a tribe of desert warriors that are troubled by Roman invaders. Ancient feuds prevent them from allying with neighbouring tribes against the Romans but Xena agrees to help. Gabrielle questions her warrior instincts but a young tribesman wants to learn from her.
A vicious tribe of cannibals have captured Virgil and intend to fatten him up before devouring him. Xena and Gabrielle sense something is wrong and try to track him down but Gabrielle's guilt over accidentally killing a young tribesman puts her in danger.
Thirty five years ago Xena, as a Valkyrie, stole the Rheingold ring and imprisoned a great beast but it took the ring from her. Back in the present, Beowulf informs Xena that the beast has escaped. She goes off alone to put things right but Gabrielle follows her trail.
Gabrielle, Brunhilde and Beowulf catch up to Xena. They must stop Grinhilda. Wearing the Rheingold ring is the only way to stop her but the side effects are costly.
Having put on the Rheingold ring, Xena has lost her memory and Gabrielle slumbers under the protection of Brunhilde's flame. Beowulf seeks a way to to free Gabrielle and restore Xena's memory but Xena has married King Hrothgar and doesn't recognise Beowulf.
Word has got out that Ares is mortal and various embittered warlords want his head. Xena and Gabrielle persuade him to go under cover. They set him up on an old family farm of Xena's and try to keep him from being discovered.
The sadistic Prince Morloch is hunting Amazons for sport. Amazon queen Marga is his latest victim and her second-in-command, Varla, wants vengeance but she is reckless and has a lot to learn. Xena tries to teach her while also combating Morloch and his men.
Archangel Michael informs Xena that Caligula, psychopathic Emperor of Rome, has become a god and should be killed, and that Eve has gone to confront him. Xena sets out to save Eve and kill Caligula but discovers he's linked to Aphrodite, Goddess of Love. Killing him would also kill her.
A modern day T.V. reporter is trying to get to the bottom of events involving Xena's return to Valhalla to confront Odin. He interviews Xena, Gabrielle and many others to get to the truth.
The Amazons are uniting into a single nation. Eve is travelling to them as a Roman emissary of peace but she is captured and the Amazons insist she answer for the crimes she committed as Livia, Bitch of Rome. Xena and Gabrielle rush to her defence.
Bellerophon, half-god son of Artemis patron goddess of the Amazons, attacks them and kidnaps Varia, their queen. He feels betrayed by their abandonment of his mother and her death at Xena's hand. Gabrielle leads them in a rescue mission but they must overcome brutal warfare and treachery to retrieve her.
Set in modern day. A scientist is creating clones of the legendary heroes Xena and Gabrielle. They are being programmed to act just like the originals but someone is sabotaging the effort.
The spirit of Ephiny asks for Xena and Gabrielle's help. A bitter warlord, Belach, is hunting down her centaur son, Xenan. Belach wrongly believes that Xenan kidnapped his daughter, Nicha, but they are in fact in love. Xena faces Belach and is shocked to learn he looks like Borias.
The spirit of Julius Caesar escapes the underworld and seizes control of the Fates' loom. He changes his fate so that he never died thus changing the fates of many others including Xena and Gabrielle. Xena is married to Caesar and doesn't know Gabrielle, who is now a travelling playwright.
While travelling to Thebes to deliver the Helmet of Hermes, Xena and Gabrielle save Genia, a young virgin woman, from being sacrificed. Genia is ungrateful for being saved and Xena enlists Aphrodite to help Genia see the brighter side of life instead of devoting it to sacrifice.
Xena hides a scroll in the Ionian Sea, hoping it will never be found. It is not discovered until modern day. A press conference is held revealing that it details a marriage agreement between Xena and Ares.
The ghost Akemi sends word for Xena's help. She is forced to serve the evil Yodoshi, a ghost that kills people and swallows their souls. Xena recounts to Gabrielle how she first met Akemi and why she is strongly compelled to help her now and stop Yodoshi.
Higuchi is under attack and Xena must become a ghost in order to stop Yodoshi's reign of terror and recover the 40,000 lost souls. Xena confronts Moromoto's army alone to die in battle and become a ghost. Gabrielle is tasked with resurrecting Xena but there's something Xena hasn't told her.
