|Akira Kurosawa Director||previously directed The Hidden Fortress|
Hugely influential and leading to a number of remakes, Yojimbo is widely considered one of the greatest samurai films. It's tells the story of a ronin who saves a small town by turning the rival gangs who terrorize it against each other. The film's premise is inspired by the Dashiell Hammett novel 'Red Harvest.'
The shot where Sanjuro is practicing his knife throwing by hitting a leaf was filmed in reverse with a string attached to the hand of the knife to pull it away.
